The Rodwell Trail in Weymouth is a beautiful stretch of land that is perfect for cycling. It is lined with trees and was previously a rail track stretching from AbbotsburyRoad to Chesil Beach, and the views of the sea are stunning. Unfortunately, the trail has become a hotspot for littering and vandalism. Broken glass is often scattered along the path, and it is a hazard for cyclists.
Jamie, a resident and cycling enthusiast told View News:
“I love the Rodwell Trail, but I am tired of getting punctures in my bike tyres due to the broken glass. “
” It is a shame that people are so careless with their litter. It is even worse when people are deliberately smashing bottles on the ground. It is not only dangerous for cyclists, but also for walkers, children, and animals. It is a constant source of frustration for me, as I have to constantly stop and walk my bike to Halfords at the Jubilee Retail Park to get the tyre fixed and now I’ve decided to buy some special gel to prevent this for re-occurring. “

” I hope that the local authorities will take action to tackle this problem. It is essential that people are made aware of the dangers of littering and vandalism, and that those who do it are held accountable. Until then, I will continue to enjoy the Rodwell Trail, but I will also remain vigilant and be prepared for the possibility of getting another puncture. “
