The Give and Take Day was held today, Saturday 12th November at The Church Of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints in Chickerell and was hailed a success by all who took part in the event.
The event was hosted by Dorset Waste Services
The event’s purprose was to swap the things you don’t want, for the things you do – for FREE!
Local residents were welcomed inside the Chapel at 9.30am and were asked to bring any unwanted household items listed below that they no longer need, to find them a new home. Visitors browsed among the items donated to see if there is anything they can make good use of. You could drop off stuff from 9am until noon, doors open at 9.30am. The event is FREE and you didn’t need to bring an item along to attend.
What can you bring or take?
• Small furniture
• Kitchenware and other household items
• Tools
• Home entertainment (e.g. DVDs and CDs)
• Bicycles
• Toys and books
• Clothes and reusable linen (e.g. curtains and sheets)

Reducing waste and reusing items is one of the many reasons the event was held was to help the environment. Where possible, items that are left at the end of the day will be saved for future events, donated to local charities, furniture reuse centres or recycled
Caden Berry, referred to as Elder Berry who was at the event helping out noted that:
“We have held this event to help the environment and bring people together by letting people drop things off and letting people come to browse and select any item for free to take home”
Nolan Nye, referred to as Elder Nye also added that “This event helps with the environment and saves so much rubbish from going to landfill”
