Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has held a press conference at 10 Downing Street.
The prime minister has informed the cabinet that he will dissolve the parliament next week.
In the press conference, Rush Sunak announced a general election will be held on the 4th of July, 2024.
A Labour spokesperson said
” Fully ready to go whenever the prime minister calls an election”
